From Landfill to Interview: Fashion can Fuel Futures
Every item donated to Smart Works tells a story — and transforms a women's future. This World Environment Day, we’re celebrating the impact of our corporate partner, Bank of America, who is turning wardrobes into a force for good. Their donated workwear powers confidence, cuts waste, and helps women step back into the workplace with pride.
Through clothing drives, funding, and volunteering, Bank of America is helping to reduce fashion waste and increase access to employment for women across the UK. A blazer that meant business. A future that means everything. A blazer that built her confidence. A future she owns. When Bank of America employees donate workwear, they do more than pass on clothes — they pass on belief, dignity, and opportunity. And by keeping these items in circulation, they’re shrinking fashion’s carbon footprint.
Empowering Women. Protecting the Planet.
With ongoing support from Bank of America’s LEAD for Women network and their international volunteering teams, this partnership continues to drive both impact and innovation — through coaching, clothing drives, and even hosting career events for Smart Works clients. Since 2020, Bank of America has:
- Funded and delivered career coaching sessions
- Supported wardrobe volunteering across our centres
- Run internal clothing drives and collection hubs
- Hosted Fashion Clubs and Client Network Events

A Word from Our CEO
“Partnerships like this show how one simple action can solve multiple problems. Donated clothes don’t just avoid waste —they support women to change their lives. We’re proud to stand with Bank of America this World Environment Day to celebrate how sustainability and empowerment can work hand in hand.”– Anna Hemmings, CEO, Smart Works
